Why Khrushchev came to power?

How could it happen that after Stalin came to power in the country namely Khrushchev? It seems that Stalin did everything to “cleanse” the party of any of his opponents, real and imaginary, “Right” and “Left”. In 50-ies passed from mouth to mouth supposedly one of his aphoristic phrases: “There is a man-there is a problem, no man, no problem.” As a result, remained alive, it would seem, the most loyal, the most reliable. How did Stalin, Khrushchev did not see a grave-digger of his cult? (more…)

Country longed for change

After the hardest of the war, after the Stalinist dictatorship country yearned for change. Grain yields were approximately eight tons per hectare. Industry require technical upgrading. XX Congress of the CPSU.

Notice of the convening of the next XX Congress of the CPSU appeared in print in July 1955. Congress had to approve the guidelines for the sixth Five-Year Plan, as well as hear the report of the Central Committee of the CPSU. It was expected that the Report of the Central Committee will be briefly touched upon the question of the “cult of personality”, which is increasingly worried public. (more…)
